well we wanted to do a kitchen remodel I was started looking around in the springtime and we came across the crew builders and the staff and we went ahead and went forward this was a pretty major remodel where we took the walls out and there's actually balsam Closet in here and they've really open it up this space our project entailed taking out the wall and the existing kitchen that was here and all we wanted to open I like the feeling one of the nice things that they did was their design was they added and Drybar behind me and that gave us some extra storage because we did sneak out a lot of cabinet space in the first from the original kitchen but as you can see they've done the floors tied together and it's really turned out nice and really huge a lot of space well the process started with Josh coming out as and helping us get a design he brought us a couple different designs in which we chose and then was turned over to the true builder and through with Dean and Aaron and the whole staff who really came in here and brought us step by step we were able to pick out cabinets and do the granite and a lot of those accessories right at their location and it just made it really easy for the whole process I think that they're really easy to work with it really easy to get a hold of they make sure they touch base and follow up throughout the process and any time we had questions or needed them to come back out to explain something or we had changes that we kind of wanted to discuss they were very open and very helpful with that I would highly recommend true builders for any sort of remodeling or restoration projects again [Music] you [Music]

The Geer Kitchen: Taking Walls Out Without Regrets

Central Florida · Customer Stories

The Geers started looking around in the springtime, wanting their kitchen opened up. The project took out the existing walls and a closet, and the design added something they had not planned on: a dry bar that won back the storage the old cabinets had held. Floors tie the whole space together now, and the room feels, in their word, huge.

Josh came out and brought them a couple of designs to choose from, then Dean, Aaron, and the crew walked them step by step, picking cabinets, granite, and accessories right at the True Builders location. Their verdict: "I would highly recommend True Builders for any sort of remodeling or restoration projects."

What it takes to remove a wall safely

Some walls just divide space; others hold the house up. Before any wall comes out, a contractor confirms which kind it is, and if it is load-bearing, the fix is engineered: a properly sized beam, posts that carry the load to the foundation, and a permit so the change is inspected. There are also the hidden occupants to relocate: wiring, plumbing vents, and AC ducts love interior walls. None of this makes open floor plans a bad idea. It makes cheap open floor plans a bad idea.

The storage math of an open kitchen

Every wall you remove takes its cabinets with it, and the number one regret in open-concept remodels is realizing it six months later. Good designers win the storage back the way this project did.

  • Islands with deep drawers store more than the base cabinets they replace
  • A dry bar, coffee station, or butler wall turns a leftover wall segment into working storage
  • Cabinets to the ceiling trade a dust shelf for a third more capacity
  • Drawer organizers and pull-outs make the same box hold more, reachably
