Bathroom Remodeling for Central Florida homes, done right
We remodel bathrooms across Lakeland, Brandon, Davenport, Winter Haven, and Wesley Chapel. You get the same licensed crew, a free consultation, and a written price before tile comes out.
A bathroom should feel like a place you actually want to start and end your day, not a cramped, dated room you put up with. True Builders designs and builds custom bathroom remodels across Central Florida, from a single tired hall bath to a full spa-style primary suite, and we handle every part of the work with one accountable team.
We are a family-owned, licensed general contractor (Florida GC #CBC1258346) headquartered in Plant City, and we have remodeled bathrooms for homeowners in Lakeland, Tampa, Brandon, Winter Haven, Wesley Chapel, Zephyrhills, Davenport, Bartow, Auburndale, Haines City, and the surrounding Polk, Hillsborough, and Pasco communities since 2009. With 4.8 stars across more than 400 Google reviews and a place in the True family that has served over 100,000 customers, we have earned the trust homeowners look for before they hand over a key.
Because we self-perform and run our own crews, your project moves from design through final walkthrough under one roof. You get in-house design, a real showroom where you can see your tile and vanity in person, permitting handled for you, and every trade coordinated by the same team, so nothing falls through the cracks between contractors.
Signs It Is Time to Remodel Your Bathroom
Some bathrooms simply look dated, but others are quietly causing problems behind the tile. In Florida humidity, small issues like a failing shower pan or poor ventilation turn into mold, soft drywall, and rot faster than most homeowners expect. If you are noticing any of the signs below, a remodel is usually the smarter long-term move over another patch job.
- Soft spots, loose tile, or grout that keeps cracking and falling out
- Musty smells, mildew, or staining that returns no matter how often you clean
- A cramped or awkward layout that wastes space and storage
- A tub you never use when you would rather have a walk-in shower
- Outdated fixtures, a worn vanity, or finishes that make the whole room feel tired
- Mobility concerns that make the current bathroom hard or unsafe to use
What Our Bathroom Remodels Include
A True Builders bathroom remodel is a complete renovation, not a surface cover-up. We take care of layout, demolition, the plumbing and electrical behind the walls, waterproofing, tile, fixtures, lighting, and ventilation, then finish with the details that make the room feel custom. Whether you want a quick refresh or a top-to-bottom rebuild, every selection is coordinated so the finished bathroom looks cohesive and holds up to daily use.
- Walk-in showers, curbless showers, tub-to-shower conversions, and soaking tubs
- Custom tile, marble, and natural stone set on a properly sloped, waterproofed base
- Vanities, countertops, sinks, faucets, and updated fixtures
- Recessed and vanity lighting plus correctly sized exhaust ventilation
- Accessibility upgrades such as grab bars, comfort-height toilets, and zero-threshold entries
- Durable, mold-resistant finishes chosen specifically for Florida humidity

Materials and Design Options You Can See in Our Showroom
Choosing finishes from tiny online swatches is one of the easiest ways to end up unhappy with a remodel. At our Central Florida showroom, you sit down with a designer and compare real tile, stone, vanities, and fixtures side by side, so you can build a look you love and a budget that makes sense before any work begins.
From a clean, modern walk-in shower to a warm, classic primary bath, we help you balance style, durability, and cost. Our project managers also point out practical upgrades, like a better layout, more storage, or a niche in the shower, that make the space work harder for you every day.
- Porcelain, ceramic, marble, and natural stone tile for floors, walls, and showers
- Quartz, granite, and solid-surface vanity tops
- Custom and semi-custom vanities with the storage you actually need
- Frameless glass shower enclosures and curbless, low-maintenance designs
- Fixtures and finishes in styles from sleek and modern to timeless and traditional

Our Bathroom Remodeling Process
We keep the process clear from the first visit so you always know what is happening and what comes next. One team carries your project from the first design conversation through the final walkthrough, which means a single point of contact and no finger-pointing between trades.
- In-home and showroom consultation to understand your goals, space, and budget
- Design and material selection with a designer, plus a clear, fixed-scope estimate
- Permitting handled by us, with all work built to Florida code
- Demolition and any plumbing or electrical changes done by our own crews
- Waterproofing, tile, fixtures, vanity, lighting, and finish work installed in sequence
- Final walkthrough together to confirm every detail meets our standard and yours
Why Waterproofing Is the Part That Matters Most
The difference between a bathroom that lasts twenty years and one that fails in two is almost always what happens before the tile goes on. A beautiful shower built on a poorly waterproofed base will leak, rot the framing, and grow mold, and you will not see it until the damage is done. This is the step too many fast remodelers cut, and it is the one we never compromise on.
Our tile setters and finish carpenters build on a properly waterproofed substrate with correct slope to the drain and the right ventilation to manage Florida moisture. The result is a bathroom that looks great on day one and stays sound and mold-free for the long haul.
- Properly waterproofed shower pans, walls, and wet areas
- Correct slope to the drain so water never pools or wicks into framing
- Sealed transitions around tubs, niches, and fixtures
- Right-sized exhaust ventilation to pull humidity out of the room
- Mold-resistant backer and finishes suited to our climate
Why Central Florida Homeowners Choose True Builders
You have plenty of options for a bathroom remodel, so trust and accountability matter. True Builders has been a licensed, family-owned general contractor since 2009, and our 4.8-star rating across more than 400 reviews reflects projects delivered with care and finished on time and on budget. Because we self-perform with our own crews and run our own design and showroom, one team owns your project from start to finish.
The same crews handle kitchen remodeling, kitchen cabinet installation, and home additions, so a bathroom is often the first room of a longer plan rather than the only one. Read our customer reviews and look through our recent projects before you decide, meet the people who would run your job on our team page, and see the towns we cover on our service areas page.

Timeline and What to Expect
Most bathroom remodels run about two to four weeks once work begins, depending on the scope and material lead times, and we confirm a realistic schedule before we start so you can plan around it. Tile and vanity lead times are usually what stretch a bathroom schedule, not the labor.
When you are ready, we will come to your home or meet you at our showroom, listen to what you want, and turn it into a clear plan and a fixed-scope quote. Call (863) 647-1800 to Request Service.
- Typical remodels run about two to four weeks based on scope
- A realistic schedule confirmed before work begins
- Material lead times confirmed before you commit to selections
- Detailed, fixed-scope quote so you know exactly what is included
What a Bathroom Remodel Costs in Lakeland and Tampa
Bathroom cost is the question homeowners ask first and almost no contractor answers on a website. Published industry cost guides put the Lakeland average at $7,484 to $10,335, with the full observed range running from $3,204 for a light cosmetic update to $15,590 for a large or high-finish bath. In the broader Tampa market, a standard full remodel runs $15,000 to $28,000.
The single biggest swing factor is plumbing location. Keeping the toilet, shower, and vanity where they are keeps you at the low end. Moving any of those drains means cutting the slab, and that adds $2,000 to $5,000 before a single tile goes down. If your layout works and you only dislike how it looks, say so early and we will price a version that leaves the drains alone.
What $10,000 buys in this market: a standard-size hall bath with a new tub or a tub-to-shower conversion in the existing footprint, new tile in the wet area, a stock or semi-custom vanity with a quartz top, a new toilet, new fixtures and lighting, fresh paint, and correct waterproofing. It does not buy a moved wall, a curbless shower with a linear drain, a double vanity, or imported stone.
These are general market ranges compiled from published industry cost guides. They are not a True Builders quote. Your real number depends on scope, materials, and site conditions, and in Florida a remodel routinely uncovers rot or a failed shower pan behind the tile that has to be corrected. We put a fixed-scope number in writing after we see the bathroom. Call (863) 647-1800 or Get a Quote.

- Moving a toilet, shower, or vanity drain: add $2,000 to $5,000
- Keeping the existing plumbing layout is the cheapest lever you have
Bathroom Remodeling in Lakeland and Plant City
Our showroom and headquarters are at 4000 N Frontage Rd in Plant City, and our Lakeland office is at 2829 Badger Rd #19. Most of the bathrooms we remodel are in Polk and Hillsborough counties, within a short drive of one of the two.
Local experience shows up in the parts you cannot see. Older Lakeland homes were built on slab with cast iron drains that are now at the end of their life, and finding that during demolition changes the scope. Newer Plant City builds usually have PVC and a straightforward tie-in. We tell you which one you have before we quote, not after.

Financing Your Bathroom Remodel
A bathroom is the remodel most often paid for over time, because it is a repair and an upgrade at once and it rarely waits for a convenient year. Financing through our third-party lending partner turns the project into a fixed monthly payment, and checking your options uses a soft credit check that does not affect your credit score.
Financing is subject to credit approval, and terms depend on the lender, the amount requested, and your credit. For smaller projects we take all major credit cards. Ask us which route fits your scope.
- Fixed monthly payment instead of one large bill
- Soft credit check to see your options
- All major credit cards accepted on smaller projects
- Subject to credit approval through our third-party lending partner

um Adrienne Holliday from Tampa Florida we initially called to plumbers because we thought we had what we thought was a simple leak and once the guys came out to take a look at the leak it turned out to be a major insurance claim so right from the very beginning we just had water damage everywhere and so as a result we they assisted us with the process from calling the insurance company all the way down to lining things up the process was relatively simple everyone that we had an opportunity to work with from the p.m. all the way down to the guys that did the work were courteous very professional um timely they did the things that they said they were going to do and it was just a joy to work with everybody on the team um one of the things that I really really liked about working with the company was just I guess ease abuse they did a lot of the little things that I didn't know about and just um took a lot of the stress off or the hassle off my plate like dealing with my insurance company or or dealing with our financial institution for a mortgage so that was great what I liked the most about our bathroom is just um I guess the the quality of work so you see horror stories all the time about people paying for something and not getting what they paid for so I think we got that and a whole lot more and we initially were just gonna get the the shower replace but then I got to talking to Erin and we were saying you know what is that you're gonna be fixing the shower you know why not just take this opportunity and let's do the whole thing because how often do you get to remodel a bathroom so we just decided to go ahead and do everything at once so in addition to getting the shower done which was the initial plan we got the cabinet's replaced we got the floors redone and change the color in the bathroom I am a true believer and you and you get what you pay for you're not the most expensive you're not the cheapest but if you want a quality end product then I would definitely recommend you we have some other stuff in the bathroom that we'd like to get done a little later in the year and we will definitely be calling true polish back to kind of complete the rest of the changes that we want to have done so I would definitely recommend you and we will definitely be using you again in the future [Music]
