Hurricane Ian: The True Crew in the Field
When Hurricane Ian hit, the True team went to work in the communities it serves. This short clip is the crew in the field during the storm relief effort across Central Florida.
Hurricane prep that protects your rebuild, not just your weekend
Central Florida's storm season runs June through November. An hour of prep before a storm makes every step afterward - including a possible insurance claim - dramatically easier.
- Photograph every room, the roof line, and the exterior now; before-and-after evidence settles claims
- Trim trees away from the roof and secure or store anything the wind can throw
- Know where your main water shutoff and electrical panel are, and test that the shutoff turns
- Store insurance documents and photos somewhere cloud-backed, not in a drawer that can flood
- Never run a generator in a garage or near openings; carbon monoxide kills more people than wind
After the storm: document before you discard
The strongest instinct after a storm is to start hauling ruined things to the curb. Resist it for one hour. Photograph damaged rooms from multiple angles, capture serial numbers on ruined appliances, and keep a simple list of what was lost. Your insurer pays on evidence, and evidence that went to the landfill cannot support your claim. Then mitigation can start: tarping, water extraction, and drying, ideally within the first day.
