oh i was a secretary and bookkeeper at mulberry first assembly for 25 years and under pastor dan and so we would i knew them i watched isaac grew up it was the original bathroom in 1950s so it was time and i also i needed that tub taken out and a walk-in shower put in first step was the they came out and looked it over with the job i went into the office and i met josh oh he's a great guy he knew what he was doing he knew he knew his products and and he had some good ideas and i told him what i liked the colors i liked and so he brought some stuff out of the showroom and brought it out and it was perfect we went down to the frame i mean to the studs we wiped out walls we ripped out ceiling everything was down to the studs what i liked about it truthfully was the fact that i didn't have to try to subcontract anything i wasn't over it i just turned it over to true builders under their umbrella they took care of everything i don't think you could have sent any better people than what i had on that bathroom they all worked very well they were very pleasant and from from sales from start to finish you know it was very pleasing so [Music] with more than i could have ever hoped for really because it looks like a 21st century bathroom i don't like it i love it it's just beautiful oh my shower's wonderful i turn it on and just get in it and every morning and night usually because it's uh it's so relaxing on the muscles i called and i got the windows got all new windows put in my house as well would i recommend true builders of course i've had a pleasant experience and i felt like i got a good deal and and they were out to do the best job they could do and i recommend them because i trust them you know and i think anybody can trust them

Judy Holden's 1950s Bathroom, Rebuilt Down to the Studs
Judy Holden spent 25 years as the secretary and bookkeeper at Mulberry First Assembly, and she watched Issac grow up there, so she knew exactly who to call when her original 1950s bathroom was finally done: the tub needed to go, and a walk-in shower needed to take its place.
Josh met her at the office, knew his products, and brought showroom samples out to her in the colors she liked. The bathroom went down to the studs, walls and ceiling out, and was rebuilt into what she calls a 21st century bathroom. Her review is the whole thing: "I don't like it, I love it." She liked the crew enough to have them replace all her windows next, and her reason for recommending them is the one that matters: "I recommend them because I trust them."
Tub-to-shower conversions: decide these before demo
- Curb height - a low curb or curbless entry is dramatically safer, and easiest to build during a gut
- Seating - a built-in bench or niche seat has to be framed and waterproofed, not added later
- Blocking - grab bars need wood backing in the walls now, even if the bars come years from now
- Glass versus curtain - glass panels change the framing and the budget; choose early
- Keep one tub in the house if you can; resale buyers with small kids look for it
Why a 1950s bathroom gets gutted instead of patched
Taking a 70 year old bathroom to the studs, like this project did, is not drama; it is diligence. Behind mid-century tile you routinely find galvanized steel pipes rusting shut, no waterproofing membrane behind the wet walls, undersized wiring with no GFCI protection, and framing nibbled by decades of small leaks. Rebuilding from the studs means modern plumbing, a real waterproofing system, and code-compliant electrical, so the beautiful surface is the least valuable thing you paid for.
